IMG_2044Hi I’m Honey. Ok, my name is Nettie but everyone around here calls me Honey. It started with my hubs. I don’t think he’s called me by my given name a dozen times since we became a couple. That was over 28 years ago. Our children, of course called me Mom and the nieces called me Aunt Nettie. (The nieces were raised with our children.) When grandson #1 was learning to talk he started calling me Honey. We tried different things to help him call me Grammy. At one point everyone was calling me Grammy. I didn’t really like that much. Nothing worked, he still called me Honey. When he was about 2 I made him a pair of pajamas. When his grandfather asked him where he had gotten them he answered, “Honey made them.” Now, four grands later, everything I make is Honey made. (Grandson is 7 years old now and calls me grandma.)

I have this blog so I can be a part of a great community of crafters. There’s a lot of talent in the blogosphere I want to be in the thick of it. I want to learn from other crafters and I want them to be able to learn from me. Together we can create great things.

I love sewing, crochet, and knitting. I would craft everyday if I could. When I get just the right fabric, a new pattern, or that great ball of yarn it’s like a blank canvas and a fresh box of paints. I am free to create my masterpiece. I take those flat things and make them three-dimensional. I create a one of a kind work of art. I love the smiles I get for payment when one of my masterpieces go to their intended recipients. Yes, there is always mundane mending jobs to be done, routine little sewing chores to handle but even those can present challenges to be handled in an artistic way.

I hope to post plans, finished projects, my favorite patterns and tutorials, and maybe a recipe or two. Pick up your favorite tools and join me. Let’s create something beautiful.

I hope you enjoy what I post and I would love to hear from you. Leave comments and I will try to reply as quickly as possible.

  1. I love doing crochet, and the one who inspired was a grandma i met who told same story as you just wrote. It’s nice to meet you, Nettie. Hope to join you in your crochet projects. ~ Mae

  2. Hi there,
Although, I don’t think I’ll be bogging about crafts, at least not regularly, I do enjoy knitting, cross stitch and embroidery – so I’ll be following your projects with interest. And telling my extra crafty sister all about them – she’s not a blogger … yet!

  3. Tell your sister to come and join the fun. Handwork is so relaxing and it is something I can do when the grands are here or when we are driving or the never ending waiting. It’s hard to drag a sewing machine around with you. Thank you for coming by and blog on.

I love comments so please let me know what you think.
